I don't know who said it that you can't legally have sex until you're an adult (I can't find the comment again) but I'd just like to point out that the age of consent applies when you are having sex with someone else over 18, which does not translate to: two 16 year olds can't legally have sex... a 13 and an 18, illegal. 13 yr old w another 13 yr old... legal.
I lost my virginity at 15 (almost 16) and told my mom a week later. I told her so that i could be responsible and get checked out to make sure i didn't have any STDs or anything and so that i could get the pill. My parents still don't trust me for some inane reason. But everyone makes a viable point, your mom was only giving you the opportunity, the decision to go was up to you.
I wonder if your mom knows that even if your not a virgin the doctor can't tell her. She can't know anything about your doctors visit. Doctor, patient confidentiality. Actually the doctor can't do anything you don't want them to do anyway... They can't make you let them check and see if your a virgin. God, people are so stupid.
Actually, you're supposed to start seeing a gynecologist for an annual pap smear as soon as you begin menstruating.
You lie...
Seriously, where the heck did that myth get started, anyway? I'd never heard it before the last gyno-related fml, and now I've heard it like a dozen times. You're supposed to start getting pap smears when you turn 21. The previous recommendation (updated, what, 3 years ago now?) was 18 or when you become sexually active. If you haven't started your period by the time you're 16, you should probably get yourself to the doctor, as well.

Tell your mom, now that you had something shoved up your ****** by a doctor, you're curious what a penis feels like.
Better safe than sorry, I guess? That does suck though, seeing as it's not necessary until you are sexually active. So that's a lot of discomfort for nothing. Your mom not trusting you is pretty rough, too. Sorry, OP!
