Today, I have my very first gynecologist appointment. I'm 15. My mom wants to "be on the safe side" and make sure I'm not sexually active. This is my punishment for being a virgin. FML

Tell your mom, now that you had something shoved up your ****** by a doctor, you're curious what a penis feels like.

Better safe than sorry, I guess? That does suck though, seeing as it's not necessary until you are sexually active. So that's a lot of discomfort for nothing. Your mom not trusting you is pretty rough, too. Sorry, OP!

What kind of doctor is going to do a PAP on a virgin ...

I'm a virgin and I've had two PAP smears. I'm seventeen and I get one every year to check for cervical cancer and any bacterial infections. PAP smears are not just for the sexually active, it's how I know that I'm healthy.

You can request that tour mom not be in the room, an your doctor can't tell your mom jack shit thanks to dr/patient privileges

Even without it being sexual it's awkward, I'm married and have a third baby on the way and I still feel awkward when getting checkups and crap.

Your mom's not legally entitled to that information, even if you weren't a virgin. The gyno is legally bound to your confidentiality. And anyways, OBGYNs are very reluctant to perform a pap on anyone underage. They're afraid of getting sued. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.

Actually although minors have patient confidentiality in many places this does NOT apply to parents/legal guardians of a child.

I didn't get to edit fast enough: The way it works is that when consent is given for a medical treatment the person giving consent is in on the confidentiality. So if a parent consents to a treatment they are given full access. . .Most medical treatments (especially a gyno I'd imagine) require consent from a parent. In some cases children can get treatment without a parents consent. This typically happens in cases of STD testing or pregnancy. In these cases if the minor gives consent (and there is no LEGAL ISSUE) to the treatment without the parents than there is no basis for a doctor to be able to tell a parent.

I'd be pretty damn pissed if my mom did that to me.

you shouldnt be too worried about being a virgin at 15

she can't make you do that. its child abuse. refuse to have it done and report her.

It's not a punishment? That's a shitty way of looking at it. Even if you were sexually active you would have still had that exam. But hey if you want to look at preventive healthcare as a punishment, go ahead.

your mom wants you a vergin but shes cool with them stuckin that giant plastic thing in there and crankin you open wider then any males penis. according to the dictionary a person is no longer a vergin once they have been penitrated. does the spectulum thing count?

I just checked 3 different dictionaries on top of online dictionaries just because I felt like your information was a bit. . .off. The widely accepted definition is as followed "a person who has never had sexual intercourse". That is to say if you ********** you're still a virgin even though you're putting your fingers in there. . .I thought this was pretty obvious information, but I guess not. Promoting virginity by parents has to do with the risks [STDs and pregnancy] of sex. If humans reproduced Asexually and STDs didn't exist I guarantee you mom wouldn't care about you having sex at all. . .It would become a normal activity once puberty hit. Fortunately the tools a gynecologist uses do not transit diseases or allow you to get pregnant.
