Better safe than sorry, I guess? That does suck though, seeing as it's not necessary until you are sexually active. So that's a lot of discomfort for nothing. Your mom not trusting you is pretty rough, too. Sorry, OP!

I've been going since I was 14 and they don't check you until you have been sexually active. All you do is answer questions and that's it.

You're not alone girl. My moms made me do the exact same thing when I was your age. The gyne was creepy too. He wouldn't wear gloves during the breast exam.

Don't assume, OP. "Just to be safe" could mean "just to make sure you don't have cervical cancer." That's the main reason women have to get yearly gyno exams.
