Good decision! Pets are a life-long responsibility, just like children, and I totally lose respect for anyone that gives away their pets because they get a new boyfriend or girlfriend who is allergic or makes them make that kind of choice. Plus then if you broke up after giving away your cats, you'd be left with even less and would be even more depressed. Plus. you're really going to want someone who's an animal person.
I agree with her decision. Those who disagree have clearly never had their own pets before. (Parents' and roommates' pets don't count as YOUR pets). Pets are a part of the family for a lot of people. Obviously she hasn't been dating him very long. This was his first time to her house, clearly.
i wont defend the dumbass for making her choose, but i will say anyone saying he should get over it ect is just plain stupid, im not allergic 2 anything i know of but my gf is and i would gladly choose her over my dog if it was making her life hell... i love my dog n iv had her for years but u cannot compare an ANIMAL to a real relationship grow up
are you ******* high? you chose ******* smelly pieces of shit over your boyfriend?!? have fun being a single cat lady until you die
Have fun being a single asshole until you die.
Well this kind of pisses me off. Every time someone posts something about being dumped after giving their partner an ultimatum it's a YDI. So why does OP deserve it when she didn't set the ultimatum? You make no sense, fellow posters.
the problem with this is that she rates her pets over her boyfriend so she obbiously had no real feelings for him at all if she rates her cats over her boyfriend.
Well not really. It never said she doesn't love him she jut love her animals more. Plus cats can live up to over 17 years old. Most relationships don't last that long. I know what it's like to be attached to your pet that much. I can understand how OP feels about this. Animals are better than people, too :D
simple solution... marry your cats and create an evil cat/human hybrid...
um I think it's the right decision OP. you had the cats when you started dating so why is he being a bitch now? ultimatums always end with a fail.

tell him to get allergy medicine then u can have both
Bravo for keeping your cats! It's nice to see at least one person who won't dump them just because their bf is allergic.
