Today, I learned that when I got my driver's permit, I agreed to be the designated driver for my family. FML

I know in New York state, the person in the front can't be asleep or drunk. They still get a DUI if they are.

18, in Ontario your front seat adult has to meet the following criteria: 1) be insured on the vehicle being driven the driver with a permit 2) must have been driving on a full license (G - AZ not a G2 or G1 or M class licenses and license cannot be suspended) for at least 4 years 3) must be awake and/or have a BAC of no more then 0.06% There is no limit on passengers until G2 where you may not carry anymore then (2) passengers not in your family (direct or not) between 2am and 8am unless you have a fully licensed driver qualified as above. And plus half the cops wouldn't give them the ticket they would just give them a warning as it takes more drunk drivers off the road and when it comes to public saftey a inexperienced driver on city streets at low speed beats an intoxicated one at any speed regardless of experience.

Should of been like "Oh HELL NO!" But if you are not paying for it work out some deal- my deal is that if I drive my brothers to swimming and my sister to ballet- everything is paid for. My brothers have swimming monday through Thursday and my sister has ballet friday

Put a sex doll in drivers seat and make a mixtape of car noises. They'll never know the difference

39 I notice you fail a lot on FML. If you understood what everyone else was saying if there was adult sober enough to drive they should drive not op. Also if there wasn't, op is not legally able drive still permit or not because all other passengers are drunk.

79, I can probably explain why 'it' always gets thumbed down; cause if you're anyone like me, you instantly see a Bieber picture and thumb down, sort of like instinct or an immediate reflex.

Ok how is it bad being a designated driver that isn't bad at all! Look at it as an opportunity to drive if u have a permit!

Lol true 84 but if you also read most of "its" comments as well...they're pretty dumb. I say it's a combination of the two factors.

91- oh how that could've been possible. I had stopped talking entirely. But then you arrived, and decided to say something much later in an attempt to look tough, but really, you're a troll with no bridge. Now I'm back. See what you've done?

Actually in the Missouri drivers test book it only says you have to have an adult 21 or older it never says they have to be sober. Plus I was the same way and I read this part several times to make sure.

Just think of what will happen when OP gets their license.

I think if OP stays quiet, and just takes them to the ghetto once... They would not need to ever say no to being DD again.

If only it was that easy lol. I just got my liscense and a new car and now Im my families cabby. It sucks and if I say no they threaten to take the car away. Just something you have to get used too

Leave them at the bar, they won't know the difference

37- I drove many times by myself when I had my permit. As long as you do as you have been taught, you should be fine.

No. Just no. If you get caught driving alone with a permit, you can get in a lot of serious trouble.

when you get your license it gets worse...trust me...I know!

Think of it this way, you will at least find out where all the liquor stores are :)

Dont care if you're the "designated driver", IGNORE THEM. Obviously you're a teen, you cant be the designated driver for your family, they cant hold you responsible for their rides home, can't they? Isnt, driving with drunk person illegal if you only have a permit?

Cool overused meme bro. Needs more overused memes.

Yo dawg I heard you like overused memes within a meme within a meme.

That's pretty obvious... how is this an FML? It works that way for every teen. The price you pay for getting it before you're 18.
