it's a sign that age could have body dimorphic disorder. most anorexic and bullemic girls have it. she sees herself with a distorted image. compliments won't change it I have a small case of it as to wear I won't even wear a bathing suit just shorts and a shirt. you can help her realize her fears of her body are unrealistic and that's it. it won't go away shell just be able to sometimes remember what she sees isn't true.
