Today, I was eating Campbell's vegetable soup. Halfway through, I started to read the ingredients and found beef broth. I have been a vegetarian for seven years. FML

Sorry darling, but you ARE supposed to read the ingredients before you buy it. It's no different than if you were allergic to something. ALWAYS read the ingredients if you choose not to eat certain things or cannot, for the sake of your health.

most vegetarians look at the ingredients before eating the food...

its vegetable soup, not vegetarian soup! vegetable soup sometimes is made with meat but they call it vegetable soup because all the darn vegatables in it!

Soup almost always has beef out chicken broth unless it specifically says otherwise. I am a vegetarian too and I can't ever eat soup at restaurants. Campbells makes a Vegetarian Vegetable soup too but you have to get the one that says vegetarian.

ok I understand everyone and what they are saying. I think debates like these are great! first of all I feel sorry for the op but you really should read the label and try Amy's soups, there all organic and vegetarian!:) I should know, I am one myself. now all of u Hating on vegans/veggies let me just tell you that one person can make a big difference! at my camp (partially because of me) many,a lot of people became vegans or vegetarians so the camp started cooking only organic and fresh meat and also they cook a lot less meat and a lot more vegan dishes! so one person can make a big difference!!!! I understand that you all love meat and think it's very healthy and just can't live without it but your wrong! many animals have been fed hormones that can cause very bad cancers. same with the factory they are in, all the packages have dangerous chemicals in the plastic that your meat is wrapped in. and meat slaughterhouses contribute to about 60% of global warming!!! you know being a vegetarian is actually healthier if you eat right and use meat replacements like tofu or quinoa! also most vegetarians buy there eggs and milk at organic markets. truthfully at first I became a veggie because I didn't like the thought of eating animals or anything that was alive (don't be stupid I don't mean vegetables) but now I understand that there are many other reasons not to eat meat. so if you don't eat meat good for you! I love all my veggies out there

theninjacat and everyone else but I hope your doing vegan right and eating making good protein and calcium replacements! as you can see I am probably more educated than all of you and I'm only 14 as well and I'm in all college classes at my high school every one is AP. so if you want to eat meat go ahead but I would like to tell you to get educated on what you are eating and maybe buy it at a green market

Gigglepatch, sweetheart, please don't brag about being in college classes and extremely educated for your age. You just make the American educational system look worse, since you don't spell or punctuate at a college level. This is coming from someone who did community college as a substitute for high school, so yes, I know what I'm talking about.

Wow... Yeah if you're eating Campbell's vegetable soup, you're eating TONS of meat products. Milk is not even vegetarian. Vitamin D3 (I think that's the one) is derived from fish. Natural/artificial flavors often secretly contain meat. The true life of a vegetarian is limited. Either learn what ingredients are, or stop crying about it.

Eh, I understand it's not the funnest thing to happen, but if you're still sticking to your vegetarian commitment you can chalk this up to a learning opportunity and move on. My friend, who has been a strict vegan for about 8 years now was at a restaurant with vegan options and the waitress set down his seitan fajita in front of another friend, and he ended up getting the beef one. The two didn't realize the switch until about halfway through. Vegan friend shrugged it off , and the two switched back. Clearly his veganism is a big deal to him and he's really strict about it, but mistakes are mistakes and he's not going to beat himself up over an error, it's not going to somehow negate his vegan lifestyle. The most we can do is move on, and learn.

Oh no! Your life sucks because you took in a tiny portion of beef broth! Unless you are allergic or just really don't like the taste, you should be fine. YDI for not checking the label.

They make a soup called Vegetarian Vegetable Soup. YDI for not purchasing the right one.

@Darkmis1 well said @Gigglepatch yeah I'm taking all my supplements and vitamins :D

Please remember that not all vegans are "animal rights people". I started on a vegan diet for weight-loss purposes. I'm 5'8" and a size 4 now and feel great. And if I accidentally eat meat product (ever broth) or dairy, I feel like a fat, bloated pig. Those of you who struggle with weigh-loss should try it. Works great.
