Today, I got my first period. My dad bought me a card and had everyone in my family sign it. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I got an electric razor and a lesson from my dad on how to shave my mustache and chin. I also got my period. FML
Today, at a family reunion, my dad announced to everyone that I'd finally started my menstrual cycle. My grandmother started sobbing hysterically. FML
Today, I found my daughter sobbing and trying to stick a wad of gauze to her vagina. She was having her first period. FML
Today, it's my birthday. I got a graphing calculator and my period. FML
Friends
Today, I just got my first period. My mother has been dead for years and my stepmother genuinely wishes I was dead, so who am I supposed to tell? FML
Today, I got a birthday card from my parents. It was my sister's from earlier in the year. They scratched out her name and wrote mine underneath. FML
Cycles of life
Today, my daughter got her first period. I'm the one shaking and hyperventilating. I'm more nervous for her than I was for myself back when I got my first period. I just now understand my mom while she was pacing through house back and forward when I got my first. FML
PSA
Today, my mom made a Facebook post about me starting my period and for everyone to be nice to me. FML
Today, I called my mom to tell her that I finally got my period. There was an awkward pause. She was at work. I was on speakerphone. FML
Today, my mum, who always wanted more kids than just me, started crying because I'm not pregnant with her first grandchild yet. I'm 16, and this all started because I got my period and I asked to borrow one of her tampons because I'd ran out of my own. FML

I don't understand why this is an FML? Did he want to keep your first tampon or something? He was only congratulating you on becoming a woman. I don't see how there's anything wrong with that at all unless he was being a total perv or a jerk about it...

Ah, by the way... something I was going to point out but apparently forgot to: Just because it's natural doesn't mean it's not gross. Yes, it IS gross. That's used material, dead blood and such, coming out of your insides. Nothing to be ashamed of, yes of course, but that doesn't mean it's not still classified as gross. Otherwise we wouldn't douche. ;P

I think you might have misidentified it, I think it's a perma-virgin, much more dangerous, but also much more pathetic

No that's a frat boy in the making. He said "dude" to refer to a girl.

look its certain societies though. the period is a major occasion in ur life, no matter how much u take it for granted. just look at quincenieras, it helps celebrate a girl turning into a woman. we overlook it as a society, but without it u would be infertile, and would u consider urself a woman, taking societies views on what makes a woman into account?
