Today, after having my tonsils removed, I coughed so hard in my sleep that I woke up spitting blood. Turned out I'd ripped my throat. They had to put me to sleep and cauterize the damaged area. Now I'm in even worse pain than before. FML

Ouch! At least you woke up instead of choking to death on your own blood OP, but the pain must be unbearable. You have my sympathy.

Whatever you do DONT EAT ANYTHING DAIRY! I made that mistake when I had mine out last December worst thing ever!

That's horrible OP,hope you feel better soon,the same thing happened to me 3 months ago,it's horrible now but totally worth the pain for how much better you will feel

Tonsils are worse than wisdom teeth so I have heard...but after reading this I now know that fact is confirmed

Same thing happened to me OP, But then I developed pneumonia from breathing in some of the blood. It sucks but you'll get through it!

That sucks, but your actually really lucky. I had a friend when I was in second grade that got his tonsils removed and he choked and suffocated on his own blood in his sleep. His mother found him in the morning.
