Today, I went on a date, the first one I've been on since my last boyfriend broke up with me 6 months ago. We were at a restaurant, and at the end of meal he insisted on paying the bill. He wanted to leave a 15% tip but couldn't work out in his head how much to leave. The bill was for £100. FML

That isn't that bad. Atleast he wasn't making you pay :)

be glad someone spent $100 on a first date for you, when it's just a dinner.

Generosity is not the only thing that matters in a relationship. If he's too stupid to figure out what 15% of 100 is, I really don't think this relationship will work out well. At best, it will be extremely frustrating for the OP and humiliating for the boyfriend.

Marry him, then let him have 15% of his pay he brings home, you keep the rest since he doesn't know what 15% is anyway you can't lose!! he's a keeper

How exactly is this a FML situation? You went out on a first date with a guy that not only wanted to pick up the check, but actually bought you a decent meal. If it was a first date, did it never occur to you that perhaps he was nervous or a little anxious? It's not like people that don't work in retail really have a need to think in percentages on a daily basis. Cut the guy some slack.

for the life of me I cannot think of what 15% of 100 would be...

Leave the poor boy alone. He was probably just nervous being around you. And after spending that amount of money on you, just be thankful.
