Today, while working as a manager at a restaurant, the "All employees must wash hands" sign in the bathroom was stolen. Now my employees won't wash their hands because they "don't have to." FML

Whether or not there is a sign they HAVE to wash their hands!!! That's unsanitary!!!! If you can't get the employees to wash their hands and you let them make the rules then you obviously aren't ready to be a manager!!! YDI

Shouldn't it just be common sense? You shouldn't have to make a sign that's so gross if they dont understand that while handling food you should wash your hands..

Simple write them up for insubordination, if it continues write them up again and send them home( make sure to communicate this to higher ups first though before sending home)

I think that you should remind them that just because there is no sign, that doesn't mean they can stop listening to what their manager tells them to do. Then when the next one still doesn't listen, fire him/her and make an example of them.
