Being colorblind myself, anything purple, violet, dark sea green, etc., generally looks blue. So def a possibility. So many FML's with girls who instantly assume their boyfriend is cheating on them...

It's not that boys don't pay attention to detail, it's an evolutionary trait that males see less color spectrum. Women, back in the old days where gatherers, they needed their colored vision to detect the slightest color differences in berries as to avoid poisonous ones. Men are better at spacial reasoning as they were hunters. Evolution in this way explains why a greater percentage of men are color blind compared to women who are color blind.

This, pretty much. My husband is partially colorblind, and can't tell the difference between blue and purple so he uses the words interchangeably. He didn't even know it until I pointed it out to him a few years ago.
