Wishful thinking
Today, I bumped into a really cute guy I know. I stuttered and floundered, before saying, "Hi, it's me, Megan Thomas." My surname isn't Thomas, but his is. FML

College Life
Packed lecture halls, a sketchy roommate and frat parties: welcome to college, the real thing.
Today, I was at McDonald's. I bumped into a guy, and as I was helping him pick up his food, I realized he was cute. I began smiling and I was about to introduce myself, when he began laughing and said, "It's you! I've heard about you!" He left laughing. I still don't know who he is, or what made him laugh. FML
Today, I was on vacation, when a very cute guy starting talking to me and asked me what my name was. Overwhelmed and stressed out, I blurted out that I didn't have one. FML
Today, I met a really nice guy. He was funny, handsome, and we were both into each other. He told me his name, and when I replied with mine, it came out sounding like "I'm a bear." FML
Today, while working as a cashier, a really cute guy came up and said, "Hi Morgan". I freaked out and asked him how he knew my name. He then replied, "You have a name tag". FML
Today, I was talking to my best friend about a cute guy that girls are afraid to even speak to, so I then decided to march right up to him and say hello. When he smiled at me, I stood there with my mouth wide open, but I made non-coherent words. He asked me if I was a foreign exchange student. FML
Today, I went out to dinner. The waiter was pretty cute. He greets us, "Hi my name is... (long pause) Jordan." Thinking he was flirting, I quickly smart back, "Are you confused?" He says, "No actually, I have a stutter." FML
Today, I decided to finally tell my name to this really hot guy I had been anonymously chatting with for a couple of weeks. He said he would be fine with whoever I am, and want to go out with me. After sending my name, there was a long, awkward pause, and his last reply to me was, "Oh." FML
Today, I ran into an old friend from college on the bus to work. Having not seen each other in over 10 years, we spent a good 15 minutes talking about our lives after college. At the end, he asked me what my name was. FML
Today, I went on a lunch date with a guy I used to work with. When the conversation got dry, I asked him if he went by “Chris” or “Christopher” these days. His name is Daniel. My brain knew my mistake as I said it. Just when I thought the silence couldn’t get more awkward. FML
Today, I saw an unbelievably cute guy. He caught my eye and began to walk towards me. I adjusted myself and flashed him a smile. He came up to me, smiled back, and said "Hi, do you have a minute for gay rights?" FML

You should have followed that up with the statement "unless you aren't man enough to make that happen". Would have loved to see his face then.

Well you've already made it obvious. Might as well go for gold at that point.

It's very cute, nothing to feel embarrassed about. But, if anythings said that makes you feel uncomfortable, just say you were not thinking straight and change the subject.

Who says, "surname" instead of, "last name?"
showmeyourears 19
Well I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure in some Asian countries, the surname comes before the "first" name. So it's not really a "last" name. I know that's the case in Japan and China at least. If you've ever seen Mulan, she refers to herself as "Fa Mulan" rather than "Mulan Fa" when she introduces herself to the matchmaker. Or if you watch subbed anime you see this too.

#69 more to the point how do you function day to day on a limited vocabulary?
3yellowzebras 19
British people do- the ones that invented the English language...
lisamarcella 14
People don't call it a surname? :S I understand both, I prefer surname. I'm British, maybe it's an American thing to call it a last name.
naiveprophet 15
#69, almost everyone except Americans use surname over last name.

Honestly, I thought that was extremely cute, hahahaha. I'm sure he thought it was cute as well(: you were obviously nervous so I'm sure he didn't think you were trying to say it in a weird way. (:
