Today, my husband and I were diagnosed with herpes. We've been together for five years and were both virgins before. Even the doctor couldn't give any other explanation. FML

Today, my boyfriend, who I have been seeing for a year, decided to tell me that he has herpes and has not taken any precautions to stop it from passing on. We have had unprotected sex quite a lot over the last year, so now I most likely have herpes too. FML

Today, after receiving a negative herpes test four months ago, my doctor called me and told me it was a false negative and I’ve been living with herpes for four months. I then had to tell everyone I’ve slept with about it, and worst of all my new boyfriend broke up with me. All in one day. FML

To say they were lying or cheating is ridiculous. There are so many ways you can get herpes. It would never hold up as sole proof of lying or adultery.

There are two types of herpes. One that affects the mouth and the other affects the groin. The hsv virus can only live for a short time after leaving the body so catching it from a toilet seat is extremely unlikely. One way that either of you could have caught it was from kissing a relative that was infected when you were younger. Symptoms have been known to lay dormant for years before showing up. Before you accuse him of cheating consider that. Both of you are in it for the long haul but there are ways to suppress it. Life isnt over. Keeo your head up.
