Today, it was my first day as an animal control officer. My first dispatch was to collect a dog that had been hit by a car. I had to clean up my dead dog on my first day of a job that barely pays rent. FML

Today, I started my community service at the dog pound. I like animals so I thought it would be a good place to do it. As I arrived they were throwing dogs that had been euthanized into a dump truck to be taken to a landfill. That was my job for the day. FML

Today, at my minimum wage job, we received a half-way decomposed dog found in a lake. It was my job to tear open the bag and try to identify the breed and color. It would've been easier if the body wasn't crawling with maggots. FML

Today, I started my first day of work at our local humane society. I asked where the break room was, so my coworker directed me to a small room in the back of the building. The only place I get to take my lunch break is the same room where they euthanize, freeze and cremate the animals. FML

Today, I adopted a dog from the local shelter. I put the dog in the car and he was shedding everywhere, but I was ok with that because he was my dog. As I pulled into the parking lot, the dog began to poop in the backseat of my car. When I got him out of the car, he ran off. $100 for him to poop and run away. FML

Sorry OP but it was your duty to make sure your dog was totally secure while you're out of the house. Don't get me wrong, I own and breed dogs and if this happened I be beating myself up for it but also accept responsibility for it.

Yeah, it sucks that it happened, but that's part of being a responsible - or in this case, irresponsible - pet owner. I don't really have a lot of sympathy or respect for people that dont' care for their animals.

You guys do realize some dogs are escape artists right? My old dog could get out of anything. He jumped off of a 10 foot wall once, broke 2 teeth chewing on a fence, dug out of everything, and used to sit close enough to the invisible fence to wear out the battery in his collar.

That's a tough one. Keep in. mind that your dog will be with you forever in your heart and memories. And a puppy. when you're ready, is a wonderful cure to grieving your lost pet.
