I can relate. My granny (mum's mum) died of cancer on my seventh birthday and now my birthday is always tinged with sadness. My mum doesn't drink heavily but I do always have to give some thought to her on the day.
Try telling your mom that Grandma want you to celebrate your birthday and not be in mourning on the day you came to planet Earth
Losing someone we love it's always tough, but things will come around with time... I know six years seems a lot of time, but your grandma certainly was here way longer than that so it will take a bit more that six years for your mother to accept it. Don't let her alone, organize something like going to the cemitery and leeva some flowers... then go celebrate with your friends... there's always a way... god luck, OP hope this year gets better.
some people just have the worst timing
How could people even press YDI?
