Today, I tried to make my mom feel better about me leaving for camp for 2 weeks by saying I wish she would come too. She took me seriously and called the camp and is now a camp counselor there. The only problem is I lied about going to the camp, and I'm really going to my boyfriend's lake house. FML

Today, my boyfriend came to visit from another state. My mom didn't want me to go to his hotel, but I did. When she asked about it, I lied to her and said I didn't go. She the showed me a picture of my car outside his hotel. FML

Today, I didn't want to hang out with my girlfriend so I could binge watch Pawn Stars instead. When she asked me why not, I lied not very convincingly and said my mom was sick and needed my help. She now thinks I'm cheating on her. FML

Today, I told my mother I was doing fine with my classes when I actually wasn't because her mother is dying, and I didn't want her to have more things to stress about. She found out and she's very hurt. I feel awful about it and I know lying wasn't the right thing to do, but in the moment I didn't want to cause her any more pain. FML

Today, I called my mom to see how she was doing. She quickly hijacked the conversation and said that she's signed me up for a dating site, because she feels bad that I can't find a decent man. I've been dating my boyfriend for seven months, and she's seen me with him multiple times. FML

I'm guessing you're a teenager, right? And you must think it's completely unfair that your mom makes certain rules and doesn't let you do certain things. Obviously by your SN you have gotten grounded, meaning you're young enough to still live by your mother's rules. And YDI big time for lying.

How did you expect to pull that one off? Usually when I come back from ANY trip, there are always little stories to tell, like the weird person you sat next to on the way, the disgusting showers and all the funny things that happened and friends you made. Your mum was going to ask questions afterwards, especially if she was SO concerned about you leaving... you can't FAKE those little stories and I'm betting, "It was okay." wouldn't cover even her basic queries. It's just fortunate you're a good enough liar to bullshit your way out of anything... one minute. Yeah, YDI (:

not necessarily. different groups such as youth groups or athletic teams have retreats and camps all through late high school. im 17 and just got back from a 3 week retreat for church
