Today, I tried to make my mom feel better about me leaving for camp for 2 weeks by saying I wish she would come too. She took me seriously and called the camp and is now a camp counselor there. The only problem is I lied about going to the camp, and I'm really going to my boyfriend's lake house. FML

Today, my boyfriend came to visit from another state. My mom didn't want me to go to his hotel, but I did. When she asked about it, I lied to her and said I didn't go. She the showed me a picture of my car outside his hotel. FML

Today, I didn't want to hang out with my girlfriend so I could binge watch Pawn Stars instead. When she asked me why not, I lied not very convincingly and said my mom was sick and needed my help. She now thinks I'm cheating on her. FML

Today, I told my mother I was doing fine with my classes when I actually wasn't because her mother is dying, and I didn't want her to have more things to stress about. She found out and she's very hurt. I feel awful about it and I know lying wasn't the right thing to do, but in the moment I didn't want to cause her any more pain. FML

Today, I called my mom to see how she was doing. She quickly hijacked the conversation and said that she's signed me up for a dating site, because she feels bad that I can't find a decent man. I've been dating my boyfriend for seven months, and she's seen me with him multiple times. FML

I am wondering that too. With a username of "grounded4life," I'm guessing she's still under a lot of parental control... which means... spending two weeks at your boyfriend's lake house without your mom knowing seems a bit fishy.

no not really. im only 16 and i spent two weeks at my girlfriends house 1500 miles away, my never even spoke to her parents or asked any questions really. but my mom did call her mom twice for like 30 seconds.

I had a similar situation, in that they never knew either of my parents, but they knew me (I made the journey there first), and I happened to be really close to her mom. She had no problem with the arrangement.

If you actually signed up and your mom paid for the camp, then YDI A LOT. Don't waste people's money. If you never actually signed up, YDI for lying... even though I'm guessing you probably had reason to think she wouldn't allow you to go if you had asked. Don't get me wrong, your life sucks, but... it's nothing that you don't actually deserve for straight up lying.
