Today, I met my neighbor. When she saw me cutting down trees on my lot, she interrogated me and called the police because she didn't believe I owned the property. She didn't call the cops when she watched someone steal a cord of wood from my property two days ago. FML

To be fair to the neighbor, I'd also be skeptical if a person different from the neighbor I saw 2 days was in my neighbor's lot with an axe.

I'd be more skeptical of the person removing things from the property than the person performing upkeep and maintenance on it. But that's just me.

not to mention a lot of people hire someone to cut down trees. so it would be very reasonable for it to not be her neighbor cutting trees down

It could just be a simple mistake. If she thought that the person who stole the wood earlier were the owner then naturally she wouldn't report that person and also find OP very suspicious.
