In some places, having no money for a mugger could get you killed. They figure that you are hiding your cash somewhere else on your person, but they don't want to make the effort to find it (Let's face it, these people don't want to work, otherwise they'd get a job, like as a debt collector).

Many years ago, when I got mugged in Texas, I wondered what would have happened if I had a gun on me at the time. The four muggers were on me before I knew it, so I don't think I would have had time to get my gun out. Even then, if I shot the one who I saw had a gun, what would happen with the other three all of whom were a few feet from me? Concealed carry sounds good in theory, but it really is more trouble than it's worth.

a big ol' 44 mag is enough to scare off most muggers in the states without even having to fire it. if you fire it the other muggers/burglars will run like hell after they see the hole you left in their friend.

The one guy had his gun pointing in my face when he "introduced" himself to me. It wouldn't have mattered whether I had an RPG* in my pocket at that moment. By the time I whipped it out, I'd have been shot. *A Role-Playing Game would have been more useful than a Rocket-Propelled Grenade.

solid point you got there but most muggers are mugging people because they're poor and can't afford things like guns so my point doesn't apply to you because you were ****** no matter what.

The downside though in Texas is that lots of people have guns. If you see someone coming you'll have time but if they come up from behind you're ******. Granted I'm still getting my concealed carry when I move back to Texas next year because of the chance someone wouldn't have a gun or I'd be quicker. It's still totally worth it.

I agree in theory nothing works if you never see them coming. but carrying is still a good idea you might see where a situation is going and be ready.

true but ive had my carry for a few years now and even though I know I got it I still look a certain areas and try to avoid spots where there are to many unknown factors but even being the best fighter in the world doesn't help much when somebody is standing away from you holding a gun
