One time I was putting something away in the fridge. A phone was in my other hand and I almost put it in the fridge. Maybe that's how it happened.

Not necessarily . I've done it, perfectly sober. Only I put down my set of keys instead of my phone. Found them the next day, at breakfast.

Hey better than me. Sometimes while leaving my house, I am panicking about where my phone is, while on the phone with somebody. And yes, the other person on the line will actually hear me say "where the **** is my phone?" and not say anything because it's hilarious.

Sometimes when I take stuff out of the fridge I put my phone down for a second. I've never forgotten it but I can see how the OP could have done it
