Other than wrongful arrest? If the kid wasn't born 'til '92 and the crimes were from '79, then clearly standard operating procedure was violated. I'd say that's grounds for a lawsuit against the city/county/state.

It's called unlawful detainment. Regardless of the situation, you were detained by an officer who couldn't tell the difference between 19 and 31. Thats ridiculous and constitutes unlawful detainment. I normally wouldn't be advocating a law suit but when officers are that dense they need to be held accountable and removed from the job.
