good idea... so everyone who might be interested in you will think "oh damn, she's engaged, i've got no chance anyway". makes sure you stay lonely.

What?! The only sad thing is buying your self flowers. This is ridiculous, i can't believe the people of FML voted FYL!?

I agree with #53. Maybe instead of buying YOURSELF flowers, you could have bought flowers (or candy) for your co-workers. Then people would like you and you might get lucky instead of feeling sorry for yourself!

That doesn't look like a *****. Just because she has a cylindrical object does not mean it's a *****. It looks like a Bomb Pop to me.

Sorry, but that's sad. There must be someone in your life, and Valentine's Day is just a publicity stunt. It used to mean something! Don't feel bad, but I'd advise you to get a social life; or a change in attitude.

I agree with yhe change of attitude, sending flowers to yourself is just sad. no one honestly cares if you have a valentine or not

It's rather pathetic. I understand being alone, because I had a lot of "alone" time in my life but I would NEVER do anything even remotly similar.

And you signed the card "Love, your vibrator." ? ;-)

haha this leads me to wonder about all those ladies in the office who receives flowers...

who cares what people in the office think? it's just another day of the year

Maybe she's a fat, 50+ lady with short hair, a moustache and saggy breasts.

Oh yes, obviously flowers for Valentines Day = engagement. It's as good as a proposal! Oh shit, I better call off the flowers for my girlfriend. And yes OP, don't care about Valentines Day. Honestly, it's a stupid "holiday" if you wanna call it that.

i was thinking the same thing... I got flowers today... should I have said 'no' rather then thank you when taking them? oh shit.. am I engaged?

16 did you send flowers to your girlfriend even though you think it's a stupid holiday? I'm shocked that so many people (especially guys) hate VD. It shouldn't be looked upon as a burden but a simple way to let your love one know how much you care about them. It's not like Christmas. It's between only you and your love one. What's wrong with making you SO feel special? And it doesn't need to cost a fortune. The stores have tons of inexpensive gift ideas.

I don't know who would like VD at all. I'll like valentines day before I ever like VD.

11 has a point and i agree.. quit being smartasses, screw the engagement part, if you see someone at the office who receives some flowers you know you Will think that theres a chance it might be from his/her lover, so yeah if youre shy and had a crush on that person it might be enough to discourage you from asking him/her out.. everybody loses..

30, You do realise that was part of the sarcasm, I didn't really send my girlfriend flowers. All I meant was that it's a commercial holiday which IS, in the end, in order to get money out of people. If you do have a spouse, then yes, it'd be nice to do something for it (Though nothing exeggerated). Otherwise, you don't have to feel like the loneliest person in the world. Who even cares about Valentines Day? If you've been alone for a year you've been alone for all 365 days, not just on 14/02.

No. 11, you are right. A new hire in our office blatted on and on about her 'husband' and wore a cheap band, pretending to be married because she had a child and didn't want everyone to know she was really an unwed mother (this was back in the 1980s when that mattered more). She was so stupid it didn't dawn on her that she gave herself ZERO chance of meeting anyone through work because everyone thought she was married. She had a HUGE crush on a guy and it went nowhere because for a long time he thought she was married, then when she came out with the truth, he thought she was deceitful and kind of nutty.

I agree with what you're saying, sourgirl. I'm not a fan of the commercial Valentine's Day with all the forced romance. However, I don't think there's anything wrong with a day that reminds you to be loving towards your SO. My husband and I have been together forever and we are still in love with each other but we're not a treacly couple. A few times a year we stop being best friends, partners, mum and dad, etc. and remind each other why we started all of this. We don't do it with cards and candy though. True romance isn't a bad thing.

your dumb!! when he said vd he meant valentine's day...duh----

WOW! Does it really matter? who cares what people think. if you don't have a valentine don't lie about it
