Today, the power went out at school. As a senior, I don't show up until third period. When I got there, I signed in as usual. The office secretary waited until I signed in to tell me that if I hadn't, I wouldn't have to attend classes that day. Now I have to sit in class doing nothing. FML

And that's when you cross out your name from the sign in sheet and go home.

That's kind of a dick move on her part.. Sorry OP! Hopefully the rest of your day was not as boring as you predicted

Exactly, I was thinking the same thing. Look her in the eye while you do it too.

I've actually done that, I walked out holding the pen until the secretary piped up saying she wanted it back (after deliberately waiting until AFTER I signed my name) I just walked away and very obviously threw the pen on the roof of the building ! :)

#27, there's nothing cool about what you did. Just saying; prepare for a possible onslaught of down votes to bury your comment. -down votes myself-

I find that comment even funnier since autocorrect changed that to the Spanish equivalent of "mister".

That slipped right past you didn't it 43?

Security guards don't take too kindly to that

Who has security guards at a public school?

Lots of them. There is even security at my daughters elementary school.... You know just in case the kindergarten class riots over the sandbox.

They are old enough to sign themselves out at this point if they are signing themselves in and they are a senior. Here you only have to be 16.

Every public school in my state has security guards. The high schools have police officers who patrol during lunches and when people are coming/leaving.

Yea but I'm pretty sure op is not a kid, they could definitely sign themself out.

American schools cause you guys shoot them up so much thats what.

Canadian here and we have security guards in our schools as well to prevent kids from getting too rough with each other and to also prevent unwelcome people from walking in. Lock down prevention I suppose.

Here you have to have a guardian even if you're 18 :/

My high school had security guards, and then actual police officers worked in/around my school throughout the day too. My school was on a very active public bus line and we got a lot of weirdos.

My school was next to an open prison and all we had was a fence and gates that they locked during school hours. Lower school kids could only leave through reception at these times but sixth formers (16-18year olds) could leave when they wanted as we had fobs for the doors, so long as they signed in and out incase of Fire (or other evacuation emergency)

Are you sure you didnt suddenly feel sick, and have to go home after she said that?

I really hate it when people like that secretary do things like this to other people. The secretary may not have done anything wrong against the OP but it certainly wasn't good either. What is so wrong with making someone else happy? Are you that apathetic that you can't do something nice for someone else, even when you're not in a positive mood? >:(

Then just go back home anyway...how will she know that you left

What a bitch. Should've said **** it and crossed off your name then walked out

That's pretty messed up. I'd have just left. None of the teachers knew you'd signed in
