Today, my girlfriend surprised me with what was allegedly a birthday "cake". It was so horribly deformed, I wasn't sure whether to eat it or wear it as a hat. I had to pretend it didn't taste like play-doh, and ended up throwing it up in the toilet. Happy birthday to me. FML

You should be happy that someone went through the effort to try to make you happy, even if it didn't turn out great.

Depending on how close you two are or how long you have been in the relationship, you could have just told her. I'm sure if she had some too and you weren't saying anything, she was thinking it too and just wasn't saying anything either. If you had have said something maybe she would have understood and took you out somewhere or went and bought you a new cake instead :)

Good question! Follow up definitely required OP...

Question is did she eat any...or was she mad at him over something and made the cake especially for him.

the things you do to not break her heart .....

I feel like op over exaggerated. it's not that hard to make a cake.

You'd be surprised how bad some people are at cooking

Props to OP for eating it anyways! He had the best in mind for his girlfriend. He wanted her to know that he appreciated the gesture.

Yeah, even though it kinda sounds like OP doesn't want to tell her so her feelings don't get hurt...if he's scared of her breaking up with him or getting in a fight over this...she's not worth it. But for now she tried baking you a cake and you tried eating it. It gets better...just have a talk with her.

But not at the cost of his health...

that's what I was thinking. No one forced him to keep eating it. as someone who can't cook, a) it takes a lot of effort and b) I'd rather you just say, something is seriously wrong than to get sick. but either way, I'd hope you would appreciate that I tried... fml is filled with people who are completely forgotten, by their own mothers, no less. this doesn't seem so bad in comparison.

I disagree. The girlfriend would obviously know she can't bake to save her life, if it was really that bad. She should have gotten him a nice, edible cake and kept the experimentation for another time, so he didn't have to spend his birthday hunched over the toilet.

At least you care enough to act like you enjoyed it.

"Be completely honest. Or lie." Damn. Talk about a 180.

a 360 would mean a full circle so they would be right back at the start.

You can pretty much guarantee that one of those options will be picked though. #7 is just covering all bases.

This is the best-written post on this site.

someone went out of their way to try and make you happy. It was nice of you to eat it, but you should try and keep a good attitude! It's the thought that counts :)

Well at least she tried, OP.

that nice of you and at least she tried
