Most likely the OP simply recognized himself in the footage despite his face being blurred out or it being a body shot. Most news channels won't show too many identifying features when they're taping people in public without the subjects' knowledge -- especially on a topic like this. Probably true in this case, as well. Or so we can hope.

In the US, consent is required for auudio recordings but not video. It's a little ****** up here, but the OP is from Australia, so I'm not too sure.
