That would mean that you have not met his family or spent enough time or holidays with him to know something was up. You would not know his friends well, you would not be going out in public much, and you would not be having him over to your family's for holidays or anything. YDI if you thought a regular booty-call was a relationship.

C'mon, she wasn't necessarily the secret for 2 years (although I could believe that happening too). Maybe he only started dating the other girl fairly recently but was more serious about her. That sucks no matter how it happened.

I think this is how they did it: The OPs 'boyfriend' bought both on holidays [seperate times] told the family they had broken up and kept doing that every holiday or only went to THEIR family's house. And no, not everyone needs to spend the holidays together.
