You people are seriously ignorant if you think the OP was "off the road, texting, bad driver, etc." I've got news for you. Bambi doesn't just stand there and wait for you to hit her. It happens when Bambi panics, doesn't know where to go, and just picks a direction and runs. The deer can be on the left shoulder, decide to bolt from you -back across the road-. And the majority of deer are hit on rural roads with woods on each side. Sometimes the just come barreling out of the woods and you hit them, no notice. And for that matter, a lot of the time, you don't hit the deer. The deer hits you! As in, plowed into the side of the car. Had that happen once. Then factor in stuff like what time of the year it is, "the rut", etc. It's not uncommon for me to see 3-5 deer on the way home everynight. That many deer, high chance of impact. So go back to ambushing people with red paint and quit trolling the OP

For real, everyone saying YDI apparently lives in the city and has never been to suburban or country areas (especially in fall and winter, which it is). Deer are so accustomed to cars around here now that they don't have an issue with headlights. They do like to run around during peak periods though (on highways and side streets alike) and will total cars easily. They get up and run away, too, a lot of the time. They're beasts, I say! I think the county I live in has about 100 car/deer accidents each month between September and January, and we are one of the safer states when it comes to our drivers. So yes, FYL indeed. Hope you weren't hurt (or ticketed since some departments will issue citations even if you couldn't avoid it). The only way YDI is if you were in an open area and anyone could have seen them coming from a block away but you were too busy doing something else. I guess this we will never know...

Well I guess one thing everyone should be asking is what time of day did these collisions occur? I live in Alberta where we have lots of wildlife, and they are not afraid of coming into the cities, you can see deer and other wildlife in Calgary, and not just during Stampede time. But I can say for driving Alberta highways, especially in the mountains for 12 years I have never been in an accident with any wildlife. Pay attention ahead of you because during the day you can see them a distance away, drive slower in bad or poor visibility weather, and be alert while driving at night. And everyone that keeps calling this an accident, and accident is termed as NO FAULT, since hitting a deer is driver fault for what ever reason (eg. speeding, not paying attention, etc,) it is a collision.

maybe it's time to move to a place with a smaller deer population. /: fyl.

ever thought of driving more slowly so you have more chance of not running into things?
