Today, for the first time ever, my family bought a real Christmas tree instead of using our old fake one. Today, I also found out I'm allergic to Christmas trees. My family won't get rid of it because they paid so much for it and intend to "get their money's worth". FML

Cover it in tin foil in the middle of the night.

What reaction do you get? Hope its nothing serious, I have a lot of allergies too. Huge pains in the ass

How bad is the reaction? I'm sure you could find like a $5 medication to take till they get rid of it.

Zyrtek is your friend (it's definitely mine!!!)

offer to pay them back for it. if not suck it up

put salt water in the base. it'll kill the tree quick then they will have to take it down

I'm not one that likes being destructive to living things but given the case and hand I think that's the best option at hand. I guess it'll die anyway so this sounds like a solution that doesn't do much harm...

Depends how allergic you are. If it just seems like hay fever symptoms then I would try enjoy it.

It's not that easy when your eyes are glued shut from the constant watering and you can't breathe because of the near constant sneezing. There are varying degrees of hay fever, none of them make it possible to enjoy things like that :/

Being a Canadian living in a small town, this blows my mind that they PAID for a real one..

I completely understand. I'm not allergic to real trees, but the smell makes me extremely ill.

This is going to sound silly, but it helped me last time we had a tree. Get cheap hair spray and go to town on the tree. Spray it like a roach. That should stop dust particles and bits of bark coming loose into the air and should keep the worst allergies at bay.

Replace it with the fake tree, sell the real one, and give them their money back.

Christmas is all about the family, isn't it?
