Today, my mother finally had her beloved Siamese cat cremated. The cat has been dead for over a week and she has been keeping it on her bed, stroking its fur and saying, "She looks like she's sleeping" and "She's so cold." To top it all off, she's been calling me by the cat's name for three years. FML

Today, I received an unexpected package from my mother. It contained my cat's ashes. Apparently he died 3 weeks ago and she thought this was the best way to tell me. FML

Today, was my birthday. Today was also the day that my mom's cat died four years ago. She was too busy crying and looking at old photos of her beloved cat to even wish me a happy birthday. FML

Today, I was sent a letter by the vet, saying my cat was late for her yearly checkup. My cat died last week and I'd had her cremated by the same people who had sent the letter. FML

Today, my 21-year-old cat, who has learned when I go to bed and waits in my bedroom for me every night, was waiting for me as usual last night. She got on top of me and I fell asleep pretty fast. When I woke up, she was still there, so I decided to wait until she moved. It took me an hour to realize she'd died. FML

Today, I've been trying to adopt a cat with little success since my last one died. My other cat, who had grown attached to him when she realized he was dying, has been lazier and more prone to seeking attention than before since he passed away. I now know cats can suffer from depression. I feel bad now. FML

Actually, 47, if the pet has a human name it's easy to get mixed up. My brother's name is Shawn and my dog's name is Seamus. My mom gets them mixed up all the time. LOL On the dead cat issue, you're mother scares me a bit. Not gonna lie...

Up until I moved out, my mother would take a family roll call looking for the right person and it included the pets. It was like, "Mike, Rachel, Caleb, Kahn, Mitchel, Medha, Peter, Timothy, Snuffles!" Inevitably reaching the person she wanted last. And Timothy was the neighbor's kid. However, when her dog died, she cried about it for a few days, and then said, and I quote, "Now we can get a smart dog." Go buy a kitten, OP.

Your mom sounds like half the customers that walk into the petstore I work at Other than people with their food orders, Pet owners are the second craziest type of people from all the jobs that I've ever had. .. They all should get some help if it gets to that extreme. .. I've even been once told that I look like one of the customers pets .. very disturbing . .
