Today, at work, a 3-year-old threw an egg at me from his cart. I couldn't leave my register to clean my hair because it was too busy, so when the new manager came in, he wrote me up for "unkempt appearance." Now my new hire probation period is extended 30 days, and my nickname is "Egghead." FML

That's unfair they can't treat employees like that. Call the store owner if that doesn't work try searching for another job just make sure you keep this one until you do. Good luck OP.

I hope the kid's parent told the kid it was a rude thing to do and apologized to you. There's a reason I don't really like kids, mostly because their parents don't really teach them respect and what's right and wrong.

Op I'm sorry that this has happened to you. It'll get better don't stress it to much.

you sound like a nice person...

Op is in a position of customer service, it won't get better. It may even get worse.

I know the feeling. I had a hamburger smashed on my head the other day while I was at work (>﹏

YDI for messing with Miley Cyrus pet dog....yikes....

Hey, head up. I hear that eggs are great moisturizers for hair.

I think your boss eggs-agerated a bit there...

I actually think the boss did eggsactly his job - there's no arguing that OP needed to clean her hair. Even though the line was full she shouldn't allow herself to see customers like that. shell see the logic in the end :)

#10, she wasn't ALLOWED to leave her station to clean up. She was damned if she did and damned if she didn't in this case.

It's funny how everyone in the comment section always has a solution to every problem.

Come on guys, let's see how many egg puns we can make in the comments.

I can tell you're not eggstatic about these puns don't be so thin shelled.

Then shouldn't you dislike the parents? It's usually their fault that kids turn into brats.

Its the parents you have to dislike. The kids don't know any better at a young age and its the parents job to teach them and keep them under control. I have met many good young kids and plenty of bad apples.

I hope the kids parent punched it in the damn head

If he doesn't believe you, ask if you can show him the security footage of the incident, which I'm assuming there is. This will prove that the incident really happened and demonstrate your dedication to the customers/store.

They cant right you up for following the rules and a work related accident causing your hair to be messy. You entered work correctly and due to work your hair was messed up and unable to be fixed. If they fired you, you could of sued. Hopefully it ends well. But you didnt have any napkins or tissues nearby to wipe it off a bit, the customers would understand even if it took a minute or two.

It sounds like your new manager is more of an egghead even though you literally have egg on your head. FYL I'd bring it up with someone over his egghead and maybe he'll get written up
