You must be a damn good employee to one up the employees that are still...you know...employed.

Imagine a new employee starts, "Where the person who's employee of the month?" "Oh they were fired a week before getting the title."

I guess he was the best employee and that is managements way if "rewarding" the best worker.

It's possible, especially in this economy, that he was laid off for non-performance-related reasons.

22: It's possible, but that's not the same thing as "fired"

Someone's unorganized. They should've gotten fired instead.

Or maybe OP's absence made the workplace incredibly productive, and they want to show their gratitude.

Same thing I was thinking! Op must have a pretty poor work ethic to get employee of the month for being fired.

Well, you have something to show at your next job! Think positive :)

You should ask for a trophy. Fired or not, employee of month benefits should be given to you.

I feel like they sent you that to taunt you. A living reminder that you got fired before even being formally *the* employee of the month.

Now that is the kind of evidence to bring to Unemployment. Ask for an arbitrator. Good luck!

That's backwards as hell. I hope you'll find a better job!
