Today, while talking to my parents, I dropped an ordinary drinking glass. After I apologized and cleaned the mess, they told me that they had decided that if I couldn't be careful at home, I certainly couldn't be careful on the roads. They took away my keys. I'm 19. FML

People make mistakes. You made a simple human mistake, apologized, and fixed it. You did nothing wrong. Some parents just have giant sticks up their asses and are begging for an excuse to be dicks.

Wow, that's what I call an overreaction. Seems to me like they might be taking your keys for some other stupid reason they're not telling you.

Do your parents own the car? If not they have no right to take your keys. Even if they do its just stupid.

Parenting 101- How to tactically borrow your kids car.

The answer is simple, they don't want you to have more freedom as to drive on the roads and stuff, just give them more of a reason to trust you

parents and jumping to conclusions .. typical .. don't worry man it's just a couple of days and they will give you your keys back , trust me

Since your 19 they legally can't take away your car keys due to the fact that your a legal adult unless where you live has different age regulations

It's probably OP's parents' car, so LEGALLY they can report it stolen if OP drives it without permission.

Uhh your 19... It's your keys. Your an adult take it back. Your not a kid anymore unless where you live has different age for adult

And unless they are paying for your car. But if your an adult and you paid for the car or paying for the car is demand the keys back. It's your and your an adult that's illegal..

If them taking your car is such a big deal to you... Get out of their house after you replace the dish you broke.

How does you being 19 have anything to do with anything? You're still a fairly new driver, so it's not like that would make any kind of point.

Well generally by the time someone is 19, the stage of having things taken off you for something as little as dropping a glass has passed.

they legally can't do that if your older than 18
