It's not all about the price of the ring. It's the fact that he proposed that counts. It's more of an FML that he felt the need to lie, since he most likely felt that you wouldn't appreciate it as much if it were less expensive. I'd be more worried about your relationship than the ring.

People keep commenting about her being materialistic but the guy LIED! If he's going to lie about something like that, what esle would he be lying about? ... I think you have to reconsider getting married. Your communication has to improve and ask yourselves, "are you financially ready to get married?" ... A $10.95 ring does not last forever. Maybe he thinks the same of the relationship?

When he said your ring cost "1500," you didn't hear him say, under his breath, "cents." So, he bought it before it went on sale for 27% off? Big deal! Who proposes with a wedding ring (usually a simple band) when it is customary to use an engagement ring, one with a stone in it?
