Today, my boss insisted I go in front of him up the stairs. Out of respect, I insisted he go first. After a few seconds of back and forth insisting, he went. The reason he wanted me to go first was because he had to fart. I inhaled the raunchy gas for over three flights of stairs. FML

Just accept the offer he made and go first - it gets annoying when people can't accept stuff like that.

"back and forth insisting". That means they're just standing there; I wouldn't fart before I start walking up those stairs.

Loot at the bright side... you didn't vom :p

Well, lesson learned. At least I would hope so.

After one flight, you would think you'd go out to the elevators.

Well, next time, you will say "Why, thank you sir" and get moving!

homestly climbing the stairs is a really small thing- was there really a need to argue over who goes first? if i were your boss (esp if i had offered) i really wouldn't mind if you went first. on the other hand, rejecting the offer might just seem offensive to some sensitive people

I just go first anyway, otherwise the other person always goes really slowly. 0 ***** given if they use it as a chance to look at my bum.

I once read an article that says a true gentleman lets people off the elevator or climb stairs or enter a room first. But a true gentleman doesn't argue when others let him through or doesn't make people go around him to enter/exit first. Now I don't know if OP is a man or woman or what but I think the rule applies

But does a true gentleman leave no puzzle unsolved?
