Have a friend from work to check on company rules of being a manager over family, or managers dating his/her underlings. Companies I've worked for have rules against this sort of thing.

I would bet any business with an HR department wouldn't let someone hire their girlfriend. Best bet is to lie - Tell a reporter he fired you because you got an abortion after he knocked you up
