Today, my boss called me into his office. After yelling and firing me, his assistant comes in telling him he had mistaken me for someone else. He did not give me my job back, as he claimed it would make an awkward work environment. FML

You can use the assistant as a witness and sue your boss for Wrongful Termination

Some how I think the assistant will "dis-remember".

Wrongful termination lawsuit. Enjoy :)

Oh geez he could have blamed the mishap on his assistant and offered you a public apology. Sounds like he's just a coward and a dick.

Awkward moment for him will be when you sue him for "wrongful termination" & maybe even get his job so you can be there when he's fired.

Sue his ass into the next century!!!!

Does this boss fall under "Psychopath" or "Tool"?

If you are in an At-Will state you can file with the state labor board. They will perform an investigation and it will be a matter of record. Then you can use that investigation to file suit if you choose or leverage a settlement from the company. Your attorney would most likely advise using the labor board investigation as bargaining chip too.
