Today, it's our first wedding anniversary, or Paper anniversary. I got him airline tickets for an expensive weekend break for two in Berlin. He got me a toilet roll. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boyfriend and I celebrated our five-year anniversary. I got him a new flat-screen TV. He got me toilet seat cover. FML
Today, for our 8th wedding anniversary I gave my husband several well-thought-out gifts. He gave me divorce papers. FML
Today, my husband bought me a present for our three year anniversary. It was a pack of 20 cigarettes. I don't smoke. He does. FML
Happy Anniversary!
Today, it was my first anniversary with my husband. Not only were we mad at each other and not speaking the whole day, he doesn't even remember and spent the night out with his friends instead. FML
It's the thought that counts
Today, I woke up and my husband said he got me a gift for our one year anniversary and that it was on the table. We laid around cuddling and when I finally got up I was expecting to walk out to beautiful bouquet of flowers. I got two packs of cigarettes. FML
Bad timing
Today, after I filed for divorce, the papers were received by my soon-to-be ex-husband on our wedding anniversary. FML
Today, it is my three-year-anniversary with my boyfriend. I asked if he had planned anything for us, and he said yes. My parents volunteered to watch our daughter, I got all excited, and apparently our "plans" are to watch a football game. What do I get to do? Make sandwiches. For him. FML
Today, it's my 8 year anniversary. My boyfriend's "romantic" gesture for the occasion was to toss a few McDonald's coupons at me and tell me to get whatever I wanted. FML
Happy anniversary!
Today, it's my husband's and my first wedding anniversary. I came home from work hoping for at least a bouquet of flowers, only to find my husband passed out on the couch, with a few beer cans next to him. I guess I missed the party. FML
Today, is my boyfriend and my 3 year anniversary. We decided to give each other something that we really needed. I bought him the $300 worth of books that he needed for college. He surprised me with a workout video and exercise equipment. FML

Might suck a bit, yeah, but you're going to Berlin anyway, so whatever. You expect tickets from him too or something?

wow what a loser jeez. Why do all the idiotic dudes get the great women. I would of gotten you like a dinner for two and bought you like a little diamond braclet. A freakin toilet roll wtf. If thats the first year you sure you want to be with this dude the rest of your life. Not saying your relationship should be based on gifts but wow toilet roll

Seriously, you just spent a bunch of money on tickets to Berlin. While I know it would have been nice to receive something romantic from your man, he's a man. He probably didn't even understand the whole "paper anniversary" thing.

I can't believe how many people here have never heard of the "paper anniversary", or any of the others for that matter. All this bullshit about sanctity of marriage, and you don't even know about anniversaries? C'mon. But OP - kudos for doing a good job on the gift. Next year, get him a dustpan and a broom. Maybe he'll get the hint. :)

if you think about it, he went above and beyond paper--he got you cardboard!! and it's the thought that counts, right?

look at the history of the tradition; the happy couple is supposed to still be paying for the wedding/ dowrie, and not have money for anything other than paper to write a love note on... the more extravagant the wedding, the cheaper the gift, and plus where would you be w/o TP? and he might have been trying to be cute and lovey dovey, symbolically saying that he'll be there when you are too old to wipe your own ass, thinking that, conciously, in the first year is a measure of devotion.

Lately so much FML's come down to "I don't have a sense of humour but my boyfriend/husband does, boohoo"
