Today, it's our first wedding anniversary, or Paper anniversary. I got him airline tickets for an expensive weekend break for two in Berlin. He got me a toilet roll. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boyfriend and I celebrated our five-year anniversary. I got him a new flat-screen TV. He got me toilet seat cover. FML
Today, for our 8th wedding anniversary I gave my husband several well-thought-out gifts. He gave me divorce papers. FML
Today, my husband bought me a present for our three year anniversary. It was a pack of 20 cigarettes. I don't smoke. He does. FML
Happy Anniversary!
Today, it was my first anniversary with my husband. Not only were we mad at each other and not speaking the whole day, he doesn't even remember and spent the night out with his friends instead. FML
It's the thought that counts
Today, I woke up and my husband said he got me a gift for our one year anniversary and that it was on the table. We laid around cuddling and when I finally got up I was expecting to walk out to beautiful bouquet of flowers. I got two packs of cigarettes. FML
Bad timing
Today, after I filed for divorce, the papers were received by my soon-to-be ex-husband on our wedding anniversary. FML
Today, it is my three-year-anniversary with my boyfriend. I asked if he had planned anything for us, and he said yes. My parents volunteered to watch our daughter, I got all excited, and apparently our "plans" are to watch a football game. What do I get to do? Make sandwiches. For him. FML
Today, it's my 8 year anniversary. My boyfriend's "romantic" gesture for the occasion was to toss a few McDonald's coupons at me and tell me to get whatever I wanted. FML
Happy anniversary!
Today, it's my husband's and my first wedding anniversary. I came home from work hoping for at least a bouquet of flowers, only to find my husband passed out on the couch, with a few beer cans next to him. I guess I missed the party. FML
Today, is my boyfriend and my 3 year anniversary. We decided to give each other something that we really needed. I bought him the $300 worth of books that he needed for college. He surprised me with a workout video and exercise equipment. FML

Might suck a bit, yeah, but you're going to Berlin anyway, so whatever. You expect tickets from him too or something?

Today, it's my first wedding anniversary, or Paper anniversary. As a young couple in a tough economy we are doing our best to be both thrifty and loving. I got her a toilet roll for a joke, she spent all our savings on airline tickets for an expensive weekend break for two in Berlin. FML

It sounds like you're putting the blame on her. He could have done many other things, like hand-make a card for her, and it still would have been better than a toilet paper roll she could have gotten herself from the storage closet. Not all good gifts have to be expensive, but it sounds like he didn't even try.

He had to get you tp. You spent all the paper. Also grow a funny bone.

Cute idea, but aren't most airline tickets electronic these days?

I'm guessing that he found out what she bought, and figured how much her gift would end up costing HIM (the plane ticket is only part of an international trip - esp if you don't have your room booked in advance) and then he figured that's all THEY could afford for her gift. Next yr he should buy 'her' a set of mens golf clubs. She can be his caddy. It'll give them time together, which is priceless!

Maybe he's just not very creative?

Did you unroll the toilet paper? Maybe there was jewelry or a gift certificate or or airline tickets to somewhere else inside. /wishful thinking

OP, I guess I'm one of the few people commenting on your side. Although I'm not sure why America has the paper tradition for one-year wedding anniversaries, he could have done a lot better than a toilet paper roll. Unless he attached some special meaning to it, it sounds like he put no thought into at all. Husband fail. Then again that makes me wonder, was he ever romantic when you were dating?
