Today, I went to babysit eight kids under the age of ten, all by myself. After five hours of Hell, the parents finally came back from the ASU game. I got paid $5. FML

I would say Hmm...$5 for 8 kids under 10? I think I'll tell everyone that goes to my school that you're cheap and you'll never be able to get a babysitter again!

No. 1 dollar per hour smart one. The same thing happened two me. I babysat 9 kids from australian. 5 of them were between the ages of 2-6 the rest were between 7-10. I babysat 4 hours and got payed $10. But then they said they were joking and gave me 40 dollars more. FYL

I never baby sat, but I remember when I was a kid all the new baby sitters would always tell my parents the rates first....isnt that standard? that way you avoid things like this.....or am I missing something?

what? what r u doing wrong? I live in Australia and when I babysit I get paid at least $20/hr for 2 kids and $25/hr for 3 kids etc

thats when you be VERY nice and then ask if you can babysit their angels again. if they hire you again steal their nice items and things like that

yeah, but this may actually get the person in trouble. I would tell them that I would babysit for them again, then when they called I would say that I would go. A couple minutes before you are supposed to be there I would tell them I got some other plans and will not be able to babysit after all, let them frantically look for another babysitter and ruin their plans for the evening for being such cheapskates. at least this one will not get the law involved.

Either babysit again and feed the kids redbull and prunce juice right before they'll get home. - or - Agree to babysit again, call 15 mins AFTER you're suppose to be there and say you remembered what cheap bastards they are. Definitely tell EVERYONE how cheap they are. To cheap to buy condoms!

Yeah seriously, you should've stood your ground and said that was too little for the work you did. In the future though, discuss rates of pay beforehand so they can't screw you over.

YDI. Whenever you babysit, specify how much you want per hour beforehand. for 8 kids I would easily say 25-30 bucks per hour is possible. Also, stand up for yourself.

Even if you do agree on a payment before hand, that's not guarantee they will actually pay that ammount. I babysat 7 kids 5 days a week 9hours a day for three weeks (when I finally said "find a new babysitter"). I got $15. Total. The agreed on payment was $15 a day.

Actually I was technically watching them for free. The parents couldn't afford a sitter. The $15 was for food because I was babysitting at my own house, which means they were eating my food. I felt bad for the people, and the kids were nice. I didn't have the money to keep feeding the kids and if the parents weren't going to give me anything I couldn't keep watching them.

Actually that rate is cheap to normal if they took them to a daycare, for 8 kids.
