Today, I went to a dollar store with a couple friends to buy cap guns to play with. We were having a lot of fun with them, and took them onto a bus. 5 minutes later, three cops got on, handcuffed us, and sternly talked to us about the dangers of guns. We got arrested for toy guns. We are 17. FML

Everyone who thinks he deserved it because he's 17 and still playing with toy guns should realise that staying young at heart is important. I feel sorry for people unlike the OP, who never play any games.

Some places, like transportation vehicles and depots, choose to not allow guns of any type... even toy guns, since police officers mistake them for real guns. (Which apparently happened here.) Stupid, but there you go, luckily they didnt shoot to disarm/kill you.

It still counts as a gun here, though not banned. It can seriously injure other passengers on the bus.

playing with toy guns at 17 =/= immature, just means they want to have... whats the word... oh yes... FUN (look it up people, its really a great concept) and as for the OP getting handcuffed isnt getting arrested since they didnt book you, they handcuffed you for their safety since they didnt know that they were toy guns right away; and if you had a little big of common sense you wouldnt get toy guns that didnt have an orange cap/cover over the end of it. and those of you who say that "you're lucky the cops didnt shoot you"; cops only shot when its the LAST option to them to deal with suspects... yes they draw their guns, yes they aim the gun at the suspect, but they will only shot when their life is threatened or that its the only way to detain the person

1) You are seventeen and playing with toy guns? 2) Police officers have the right to arrest anyone with an object resembling a gun, even if it looks fake. There are some people who will make their real guns look like toy ones (including painting orange on the tip) and the police officer(s) has the right to take you into custody until it has been proven that the guns are of no threat. 3) Why were you playing with them on a bus? Of course people will be wary of someone who could potentially have a gun on the bus with them. YDI and FYL for having the maturity of a four year old. You should not be aloud out by yourself, apparently.

The only FYL here is that you obviously have the mind of a child, and if you're this bad at 17, odds are you're never going to grow up. You're complaining about the results of your own stupid behaviour, though, so YDI.

YDI - if you were 17 you had to have been fully aware that taking those on the bus would get you arrested. Its only a matter of luck that you weren't shot and tasered first

Ok, I won't blame you guys for wanting to have fun with toy guns when you're 17, that's totally understandable. But, when I was in elementary school they taught us something about guns, never even pretend to have one when you're at school, riding mass transportation, or any other gun sensative place like that. So you guys deserved to get arrested for that.
