Today, I was listening to my son's teacher gossip about students whilst in the grocery store. I was thrilled when she described my son as "A model student". However, she then went on to say, "Which is surprising considering that his parents are trailer trash." FML

Just because the teacher called them trailer trash, doesn't mean they are. Also, who said trailer trash can't spell or use proper grammar?? Just because they live in a trailer park or are trashy, doesn't make them dumb.

it's illegal for teachers to discuss their students in public like that due to confidentiality laws and policies. Call up the school and complain. Tell them how upset and offended you are. At the very least, she will be put through disciplinary action, and more than likely she will be fired.

I've never heard of a school that has a policy against teachers talking about their students. My sister is a teacher, I have several friends who work as TAs and all are more than happy to discuss their students. Just because something isn't necessarily "nice" doesn't mean it isn't legal.
