Do you mean she's suing you for the damages? Pressing charges means she wants you locked up for committing a crime. You weren't being an arsonist; you were just being a careless idiot. If they locked up people for being idiots, we couldn't build enough prisons to keep them.

She could do both, but also, if she had insurance, the insurance company will most likely sue him or his insurance company (do they cover damage your idiot self does at someone else's place??) for damages, whether she wants to or not.
