Today, I asked my students to buy a copy of Anne Frank's diary for an assignment. One of them asked me in all seriousness who wrote it. FML

I honestly agree with those saying you shouldn't be on here making a mockery of them not knowing. Sure, they should know, but we don't know what age level your students are. Take this as a chance to teach them something new! As for buying the book, I kind of understand that. Why must they buy the book for an assignment? Wouldn't it be easier to let them borrow the book from the library, complete the assignment, then return it to the library? It would save them money, after all.

My local libraries only allow books to be kept for two weeks, after that you can renew them provided no one else is waiting for it. They also don't often have large amounts of one book usually only a few copies. However you can buy books from seconds hand book store too.

well... she didn't write that edition :p So... who wrote it?

Well there IS a style of book that's written like a diary, as well there are a number of historical texts that in their recently printed forms say "written by ____" and then the name of a modern day writer/translator who obviously isn't the author of, for example, Beowulf So, to be fair, they May have just been trying to get an idea of where to look for the book

I get really offended by holocaust jokes. Anne Frankly I'm sick of them.
