Today, after practicing a song for my girlfriend on guitar all day, I called her over to my house to show it to her. After a long speech about how "this is for you," I played for about 3 seconds before I broke a string, which slapped her in her face. FML

How close was your girlfriend to your guitar? Was she making out with it? I don't see how a string would have hit her unless she was right next to it.

My string just broke on Monday. Oh wait...its wednesday...Maybe I should buy new strings. By the way I know how you feel about this. Its tough being a sexy musician.

lololol that sucks dude... and for everyone asking how close she was to the guitar she was it doesnt really matter because if it was an acoustic guitar, which it probably was, the stings on those can ****** fly when they break, ive been whacked numerous times by them, probably means i need to buy better strings lol

That is totally an FML. I don't see how you deserved it. I guess I'll have to find one of 'em people who find crazy ways to say you deserve it. I've got one: "YDI because a true guitarist always makes sure the strings are on nice and tight before they play for their girlfriends."

ok. it was cute that you made a song for her. Good job as a boyfriend... bad job as a guitarist= P

She didn't have to be THAT close. Although she probably was close to it, given he was singing TO her. I'm always slightly terrified when I'm tuning my cello that the string is going to snap and hit me in the eye or something.

that sucks but you guys will laugh at it later

owch, thank god i cant hurt my gf with my piano, still that sucks. hope ur gf didnt get pissed

Aw :/ I'm sure she understood it was an accident - I know I would have laughed about it.

#1, that's totally possible if she were sitting on either side of him, from my experience, strings hardly break in the exact middle, it's always towards where most of the tension is. but ouch, i broke my lower e string a while ago and that shit whiplashed my hand, had a nasty cut for a few days... hope she understands :/

You deserve it for not changing the strings when they're old.
