Thanks, I guess…

Today, it was my birthday and everyone in the office chipped in to buy me a card, and nothing but a card. It had a pre-written message on it and a space to write "Love, *insert name*" where everyone signed their names. The "Love" was crossed out and replaced with "From". FML

they may have actually been trying to be respectful to the people who were signing it and/or complying with company policies

Haha some idiot went out and bought the card. Then the person who was actually behind it freaked and probably had to fix it.

Maybe they are not comfortable using the word love. It is a pretty strong word. Seriously, at least they remembered your birthday. This is not an FML.

They probably talk about you behind your back and want you to quit. First off THEY didn't remember your birthday. It was one person that made everyone else sign.

times are tough - this reflects economic times

Yes, how terrible now you can't sue them for sexual harassment, your life is truly ******

Aww :( I'm sorry. 'Love' doesn't have to mean someone your in love with, it could be used in a friendly matter. Here, Happy Birthday! :) Love, Curious_cat

...So they didn't love you, get over it. Furthermore, you expected them to actually buy you a present? Really? You expected way too much

It's tacky on their part to have crossed out a part of the card, but it was silly of you to expect more than a card.

You don't know how lucky you are to have actually received a card, where I work I'd be grateful if someone actually remembered. You set unrealistic standards, and cry when things don't live up to your expectations? I could see why someone would have such a hard time saying they 'love' you..

why do you expect them to shower you with gifts on your birthday? it would just be something stupid and useless you don't need anyway, and people are pretty broke these days. i dont think your coworkers want to spend much of their hard earned money on a gift for the emotionally needy guy in the office.
