Simmer down, Karen

Today, at work, I refused a customer a refund because there was nothing wrong with the item, and she didn't have the packaging. I then watched as she and her son rummaged through a public bin for the packaging. When I refused her again, she called me a "fucking idiot". FML

Isn't the customer always right ?

I work the customer service desk at a grocery store. It's ******* crazy what people try to pull. People are so rude

I used to wonder the same thing. Eventually, I realized it was b/c they're unhappy people with low verbal skills.

You still have to bring the packaging back to get the refund or exchange. Most companies need it so they get credit for the defective item.

Why not give the refund? You work there, your not the owner....maybe they just didn't want it after all... The $'s not coming outta your pocket!

I think perhaps I should've mentioned that she did intact find the packaging from the bin, which happens to be right next to a food place, and then tried to return it... complete with unhygienic scummy packaging

u are a idiot a customer is aloud to return a item with in 90 days if there is something wrong with it or not

where do you work at where a customer can't return an item??

If you bought it and opened it, and it's not defective, you own it - end of obligation on the retailer's part. It would be a different story if you changed your mind *before* opening it and discarding the packaging. Now, obviously there are many retailers who will bend over backwards to satisfy customers above and beyond and accept such returns/exchanges, but I would never, ever expect a refund on an opened, fully functional product.

Nothing you can do about a stupid customer. If she can't bring the packaging that's her fault.
