Today, there was a new girl in one of my classes. We both corrected a classmate on his grammar, so, trying to make a new friend, I leaned back to her and said, "Haha, fellow Grammar Nazi?" She gave me a disgusted look and told me she was Jewish. FML

Then she obviously has no sense of humour. There's no better revenge than taking a derogatory term and turning it around.

Ohhh, that's rough. At least you tried!

Maybe she's also not a fan of FML or Seinfeld, or she would have realized what it was supposed to mean.

I'm pretty sure that was just an excuse not to talk to you 'cause anyone who knows of this magical thing called the "internet" knows that a grammar nazi has nothing to do with Jews nor is it anywhere near offensive.

Laurenluvz 11

On the topic of (the) fml.. I've notice that the amount of fmls stating that unknowingly insult/bother others is pretty high..

Success4444 12

No shit, 27. I thought it was cool to give respect to the site. After all, it gives you the opportunity to attempt a rebuttal.

CallMeMcFeelii 13

Totally agree 87. Pretty pathetic how some people take offense to every little comment made. Kind of why I don't comment as much.

132 That was the worst self-redemption I ever read

Success4444 12

Do you really think I care? (yawn)

I'm still trying to figure out how all that ^^ managed to go down on my comment.. Just saying.

I'm Jewish and its people who take offence to easily like that who give us a bad name She needs to take a joke and laugh Silly silly girl :D OP i would have said the same ;)

-Success4444 ever heard the expression quit while you are ahead?...Quit while your behind too

Apparently it's not a phrase looked well upon in Germany, either, for obvious reasons.

On a side note, I know Hitler was a bad guy for killing all those people, but isn't he also a good guy for killing Hitler? But then on the opposite end of the spectrum he is also a bad guy for killing Hitlers killer I guess.

Really original, you must have come up with that yourself:)

These nazi jokes are annoying. Annefranly, they need to stop

flockz 19

you didn't spell "AnneFrankly" reich.

MrBrightside21 20

Jew didn't have to go there...

TheManager 6

That one's gonna holocaust you 59.

dont make these jokes!! they are reichdiculous and they get me out of my kampfort zone!!

Infinite Hitlers killing hitlers before committing crimes against humanity over a particular time in space can easily be placed into a Riemann sum resulting in the integral of Hitler heroically killing himself.

gabe222 25

"Mein kampfert zone" would have worked better. Just thinking out loud here. Not trying to hate! I swear!

Pfew, that didn't go well. But Grammarnazi is a word that gets used a lot. And you didn't knew she was jewish. Yeah, FYL

FinJage 18

So there's nothing wrong with using the phrase with someone else, just not with Jewish people?

54--Ohh I wanna play! Did you mean "nazis" sans apostrophe?

Corrupt_waffles 13

What the hell? I'm Jewish and I use that term for myself. Some people I swear. I thought we Jews were gifted with a natural sense of humor? Or maybe it's the ones born without one that become the lawyers and doctors.

You can never be too careful. Sometimes, it's best to use the term "grammar police"

I thought we were born to be naturaly be stuborn arguers and never concede our opinion.

Then she obviously has no sense of humour. There's no better revenge than taking a derogatory term and turning it around.

Or does she have a great sense of humor, and is now laughing at making a stranger in her class feel like an asshole? She might not even be Jewish.

If he was black... I would turn it around by asking if he knew where the black Jews sit... Back of the oven! Hahah.... That one is a little extreme.. Highly advice not using it..

I live in a town where 30% of the population is jewish, saying granmar nazi wouldn't offend any of them, they make more offensive jokes about their religion anyway. That girl just need to develop a ******* sense of humor.

Comment moderated for rule-breaking.

Show it anyway

Pesa, what happened during the Holocaust was a tragedy to say the least. And if you'd like to hold that hate in your heart for the rest of your life, that's up to you. I choose to move forward.

The term 'Grammar Nazi' was never intended to racist. Fool.

lmngrl889 14

I'm Jewish & I don't take offense to it

go **** yourself. it's really funny that you're being the holier than thou asshole here, even after admitting that there's nothing inherently derogatory about the term 'grammar nazi.'

Way to overreact on her part. Grammar nazi is a common saying and it's been more than 65 years... time to get over it. My grandpa was a POW, but come on...

No people shouldn't "get over it". But there is a different between a Nazi and grammar Nazi she still overrated

At least you didn't give the nazi salute as you said that.

No. There's no good reason to be "PC". Political correctness is the nice way of saying "I'm not going to say anything remotely off-colour for fear I might offend someone." **** that. People need to learn to lighten up and laugh at their own weaknesses. I have plenty of faults and failures, but I don't let them bother me. I laugh at them, learn from them, and move on.

I dunno, I think it's good to be reasonably PC. Though if you're a nice person then you shouldn't really consider it 'PC', it should just be 'normal'. I don't think saying 'grammar nazi' is non-pc though - it's too commonly used nowadays, it's like when old people get mad when you say 'crap' because they think it's a swear word when no-one thinks that now.

MarisaCB 16

My friend is Jewish and a Grammar Nazi, I'm one as well... It's not really considered rude nowadays, so why would OP assume it would offend anyone?

My friend is a nazi and has terrible grammar, and the term "grammar nazi" is very offensive to him. So be careful cause you never know when a nazi with bad grammar is near you.

Thats why I said RELATIVELY. I avoid making jokes about racism, homophobia and sexism. That shouldn't be considered a bad thing, you're a bunch of idiots if you think being polite is negative. and for the record I curse like a ******* sailor but bigotry isn't cool nor funny.

sugarshane007 20

It's good to be PC? Damn, I'm a Mac.

There's no way you could've known she was Jewish. Don't feel too bad. She needs to lighten up.

He should've known after getting his eye poked out by her nose.

etoilenuit 15

yea no way.. Other than just looking at her...

#108-- how would you know just by looking at her? Where you are from, do people tattoo their ethnicity to their head? Or are you going with the "big nose" stereotype? I have a pretty large nose, and I am not Jewish.

So what, if she cannot take a joke why bother, humour is one of the last thing we have in the world that is ours!

HAHAHA THE NAZIS WERE SO FUNNY I JUST CAN'T STOP LAUGHING. Humor is relative.

PrincessPesa, I think you're taking this 'name calling' a bit too seriously. There is a vast difference between an actual Nazi and a Grammar Nazi. It's just a name, nothing intentionally offensive about it so I think you just need to let it go over your head a little...

seriously pesa? grammar nazis are not real nazis. we understand; you had family in the Halocaust, but you need to stop being so frigid. im sorry for your loss, but being uptight about it and trying to make others feel bad is not going to make it any better.

I think its safe to say princesspesa has put her two extremely angry/upset cents in...I guess from now on there's gonna be no FMLs about Jewish people without her having a comment. Honestly your angry rant is relative too, no one seems to find it necessary.
