Today, after class I was chatting with my teacher, a really cool and stylish old black guy. I tell him he reminds me of one of those soul dudes from those '70s movies, right down to the pimp-walk. He tells me he walks that way because he was beaten for drinking out of the wrong fountain as a kid. FML

shhe/he wasn't steroetyping, guys. Stereotyping would be if you've never met the guy, and assumed he was a soul man. She knew him, and was talking to him, and everything, and said her teacher reminded her of them. It'd be completely different to see a bblack guy you don't know, and assume they're soulful. She wasn't being a dick.

The grade should be dropped because of something that has nothing to do with the classwork? Are you an idiot? Any teacher that would drop a grade (or raise it for that matter) for personal reasons should be fired immediately.

#13 My thoughts exactly =) #27 I definitely agree, but you should calm down too. What happened is not that big a deal, I have friends who makes jokes at work like "oh my God, they hired you even though you're black", and I don't flip out brandishing my Discriminations and Race Relations Act. It's only a big deal if you make it a big deal. That being said, calling your teacher a pimp is idiotic and insulting, might as well have asked him where he hides the prostitutes.
