Today, while shopping at American Eagle, I found the same "$1,500" wedding ring my fiancé proposed to me with, marked on sale for $10.95. FML

bad because he lied. good because that's more money to spend on tge wedding! CONGRATS!! :)

Dump him, he obviously can't be trusted AT ALL. My ex fiance proposed to me, no ring. I accepted, then later on we went ring shopping. He didnt want to spend more then $200, and I fell in love with a $169 ring. He didnt have the money to pay for it all, so he did payments-- of course a 6 weeks later it still hadnt been paid for, and I paid the last 60 bucks or so. Next thing I know he's cheating on me with another woman. He's not serious-- or won't be for long. I wouldnt marry anyone without a $500 ring or better. That said, Id rather not marry anymore. Just some random sex with one good friend for the rest of my life. The only man in my life I need is my cat

ok, maybe I'm too young to understand the concept of buying ring for engagement. But marrying a guy depending on his ability to afford a expensive ring isn't kinda... materialistic? In OP case, she having problem with the ring because her fiance lied to her about the ring price. I know there should be a limit on minimum price to buy it on. Have you consider OP might have been rip off? There are some fake jewelry (well not exactly fake) that are man made diamond can have price from 10-20% of the real one and impossible to tell apart. In your case, shouldn't you try to live with your fiance or boyfriend long enough to FULLY understand his nature before try to marry him?

On the small chance that you're not trolling, you're a materialistic bitch and a sexist. Did you buy him a $500 ring? No? How about a $200 ring? My guess is that you were willing to spend ZERO dollars on buying YOUR fiance a ring, and yet expected your fiance to buy you a $500 ring.

haha, I did the same thing, except I used a ring from a 25 cent machine.

maybe it was a knock-off version... hopefully

hey but it made you happy didn't it? don't look a gift horse in the mouth. ydi

I agree its about the lie but on the other hand, like people have said, I'm gonna wear this for the rest of my life (i hope) I do want something nice. I'm not sayin 20,000 dollars, but something he put thought and effort into. but ice always wanted a sapphire instead of a diamond and that's much cheaper.

My great-grandparents got married with no ring. He bought one for her years later. They've been married for 65 years and are still going strong. It's about the love, not the ring. He shouldn't have lied...
